What's the difference between Subscription and Pay As You Go?
Pay As You Go charges $0.20 per credit with no monthly commitment - credits never expire. Creator costs $29/month for 200 credits (~$0.145 per credit). Business costs $99/month for 1,000 credits (~$0.099 per credit) and adds priority rendering. Both subscriptions can buy discounted additional credits anytime.
How many credits do I need for my video?
Credits scale with output resolution: 1 credit per minute up to 1080p, 2 per minute up to 2K (2560x1440), and 4 per minute above that (including 4K). A 3-minute 1080p video costs 3 credits; the same video in 4K costs 12.
How does the subscription credit rollover work?
Unused subscription credits roll over to the next month, up to 2x your monthly allowance in carried-over total: 400 credits on Creator, 2,000 on Business. This means you can accumulate credits for bigger projects without losing them.
Can I buy more credits as a subscriber?
Yes! Creator subscribers pay $0.15 per additional credit and Business subscribers pay $0.12 - versus $0.20 on Pay As You Go. Top-ups start at 100 credits. Additional credits follow the same rollover rules.
Do Pay As You Go credits expire?
No, Pay As You Go credits never expire. Once purchased at $0.20 per credit, you can use them whenever you need to render videos, giving you complete flexibility for occasional use.
Can I switch between plans?
Yes, you can switch anytime. If you cancel a subscription, you'll keep access until the end of your billing period and retain any accumulated credits. You can always switch back to subscription later.
What happens if my video rendering fails?
If rendering fails due to a system error, your credits will not be deducted. We only charge credits for successful video exports. You can retry failed renders at no additional cost.
What features are included in both plans?
Both plans include 1080p & 4K video exports, access to all templates, video editor, API access, AI features (auto-captions and AI voiceover), and email support. Subscription users get priority support for faster response times.
How much do the AI features (auto-captions, AI voiceover) cost?
AI features use the same credits as rendering - no separate plan or add-on required. Auto-captions cost 0.25 credits per minute of transcribed audio (at Pay As You Go rates, that's $0.05 per minute). AI voiceover costs 0.5 credits per 1,000 characters of text (about $0.10 per 1,000 characters). If you caption only a clip of a longer file, you pay for the clip, not the whole file. You're only charged when the operation succeeds - failures are refunded automatically.
Do I need a subscription to use the AI features?
No. AI features are available to every user with credits, on both Pay As You Go and Subscription plans. Future AI features will work the same way - one credit balance for everything.
Is there a free trial?
New users receive 5 free credits to test Renderly's video rendering quality. This is enough to render a 5-minute 1080p video and experience our features before choosing a plan.
What does the Business plan add over Creator?
Business ($99/month) is the team plan. It adds an organization with up to 5 seats (the owner counts as one), a shared credit pool, and shared projects that any member can edit and render - none of which are available on Creator. It also includes 1,000 credits per month (5x Creator), priority rendering so your jobs are processed ahead of the standard queue, cheaper additional credits ($0.12), a higher webhook limit (25 vs 10), and priority support.
Can I share credits with my team?
Yes, on Business. Create an organization from your dashboard and invite up to 5 members, counting yourself. Projects owned by the organization draw from a shared credit pool instead of any one person's balance, so you top up once for the whole team and a failed render refunds to the pool that paid. The owner or an admin funds the pool by transferring credits from their personal balance. One exception: AI features (auto-captions and voiceover) always charge the personal balance of whoever runs them, not the pool.
How does annual billing work?
Annual billing gives you 2 months free: Creator is $290/year and Business is $990/year, paid upfront. Credits arrive on the same monthly schedule as the monthly plan (200/month on Creator, 1,000/month on Business) and follow the same rollover rules, so you get the discount without changing how credits work.
